CCBA Member, and CCBF President, Michael Pykosh was elected President of the Board of Directors of Mid Penn Legal Services. Attorney Pykosh will be President for a term of three years starting in the July Term. Mid Penn Legal Services is a non-profit, public interest law firm that provides high quality free civil legal services to low-income residents and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in 18 counties in Central Pennsylvania. Chairman, Michael J. Pykosh of the Cumberland County Bar Foundation announced on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at the Cumberland County Bar Association's Annual Meeting that monies that were raised through efforts such as Diego's Spring Fling were disbursed in the amount of $7,500.00 to the Cumberland County Overdose Intervention Court, $7,500 to Mid Penn Legal Services and other smaller donations to various entities. The Cumberland County Bar Foundation would like to thank our supporters, members of the Association and the community for their participation in making these donations possible.
Today the Cumberland County Bar Foundation had the privilege to honor Samuel E. Miller on his retirement from Cumberland County Juvenile Probation Office. In Sam’s honor monies were donated in his name to the Samuel E. Miller First Year Award for the George E. Hoffer Second Chance Scholarship that is awarded annually to those juveniles that are looking for a second chance after being involved with the juvenile court system. Thank you to Sam for his many years of service and assistance with the George E. Hoffer Scholarship, you are an inspiration to us all and we look forward to honoring you every year along with Judge Hoffer and the juveniles selected for the scholarship! A huge thank you to Sam and the generous people that donated in Sam's honor, we were able to raise $4,505.00 for next years George E. Hoffer Scholarship participants!!!
The Cumberland County Bar Foundation is excited to introduce our NEW Courthouse Facilities Dog, SSD Drachma. The Foundation purchased Drachma with funds from the 2018 Diego's Spring Fling. Drachma and his handler Karen Rhinehart will be working with Cumberland County Adult Probation. Drachma and his handler are excited to work with the Cumberland County community just like his big brother Diego!
